Heat leaves at floor level
Sub-Zero’s Designer Series use and care guide puts the condenser behind the kickplate and asks for it to be cleaned every six to twelve months, with the power switched off at the control panel first. In a flat with hard floors, dust and lint gather at exactly that height. A condenser furred over with them makes the unit run long and hold poorly, and a freezer that runs long can build frost faster than its defrost clears it.
